in the obscure cult movie world, this gem is up there with Todd Haynes’ Superstar:The Karen Carpenter Story. Starring Diane Lane, Laura Dern, Steve Jones + Paul Cook (of the Sex Pistols!!), Paul Simonon and many others, it is the story of young girls getting angry and making a band to express their volatile emotions. This movie inspired many of the formative bands of Riot Grrrl, amongst others. The fashion is also strange and exquisite.
No longer must you scrounge up a 5th generation vhs tape to watch the fabulousness, some 27 years after being shot L+G:TFS has finally been released.

Last year after I first moved here, the first time I ever went into the Pearl Whole Foods, I saw Diane Lane in there shopping. Now I wish I could’ve said “Hey! Weren’t you in The Stains!?”
This is so well worth it’s current Amazon sales rank of #4,662. “Yeah!” for the long patience of the long tail!
